Exporting SCORM Packages from Cinema8

Exporting SCORM Packages from Cinema8

SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) is a widely used standard for e-learning platforms. Exporting your videos as SCORM packages allows you to integrate Cinema8’s interactive videos into Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Akademi.net, Moodle, Blackboard, or Canvas. SCORM ensures that learners can interact with your content while their progress and completion status are tracked seamlessly within the LMS.

Steps to export a SCORM package from Cinema8

Step 1: Open sharing options

Navigate to Cinema8 Creative Studio and select the video you want to export. Click the Share button in the top-right corner. In the Sharing Options menu, go to the SCORM Export tab.

Step 2: Configure SCORM settings

  • Select a SCORM version:
    • SCORM 1.2: Widely compatible with most LMS platforms, including Akademi.net, Moodle, and Blackboard.
    • SCORM 2004 (3rd Edition): Recommended for platforms requiring more detailed tracking and reporting features.
  • Set minimum watch time for completion: Define the minimum amount of the video a learner must watch to mark it as complete.
  • Save your configuration: Ensure all required fields (marked with a red asterisk *) are completed.

Step 3: Export the SCORM package

Click the Export button. Cinema8 will generate a downloadable SCORM package (ZIP file). Save the file to your local device.

Step 4: Upload the SCORM package to your LMS

Log in to your LMS platform (e.g., Akademi.net, Moodle, Blackboard, or Canvas). Navigate to the Content Upload or Course Management section. Upload the SCORM package generated by Cinema8. Configure SCORM settings in your LMS:

  • Set course completion criteria.
  • Enable progress tracking and reporting features.
  • Assign the SCORM content to the relevant course or lesson.
💡 Tip: Akademi.net fully supports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004, ensuring seamless integration with Cinema8’s interactive videos.

Why use SCORM packages with Cinema8? Best practices for SCORM exports
  • Set meaningful completion times: Ensure watch times are high enough to guarantee meaningful engagement but not so high that they discourage learners.
  • Test SCORM packages on your LMS: After uploading, test the SCORM package in Akademi.net, Blackboard, or Moodle to confirm functionality and tracking accuracy.
  • Combine LMS and Cinema8 analytics: Use Cinema8’s built-in analytics to gain deeper insights into viewer behaviour, supplementing LMS tracking data.
