How to Add Time Restriction to Question Types
Using time restrictions for questions in an interactive video can capture viewers' attention and introduce a gamified challenge. Let's get started.
First, add a question to the video. Then, drag and drop the Countdown widget from the Elements panel to the same time interval as the question. After adjusting the general settings in the Countdown tool's properties panel, click the On Complete property to select an action. Your selection will vary depending on your use case. For example, if you set a 5-second countdown and the viewer doesn't respond within that time, you need to choose what will happen next. Below are some commonly used features and scenarios:
Jump in This Project: If the viewer doesn't answer the question within the allotted time, you can automatically skip to a different point in the video.
Set Visible: You can set an audio warning to play. First, make an audio file invisible in its Properties panel, then, in the Countdown tool's Properties, select On Complete, choose Play Audio, and select the audio. For instance, you might add messages like, "Your time is up, please make a choice," or "You didn't answer in time; please review this section again." Additionally, you can add a new On Complete action, select Jump to, and redirect the video to a relevant section.
Set Variable: If viewers don't respond, you can define a variable to track unanswered questions. At the end of the video, you can show the total number of unanswered questions. Read this article to learn more about using variables in videos.
