How do I manage my live stream?
Once your live stream is on air, you can manage the broadcast from the Cinema8 Studio. You can control who appears on stage, change layouts, manage audio, control media and branding, add destinations, and coordinate with your studio team without stopping the stream.
Manage people on your stage
Use the People panel to manage guests during your live stream.
You can:
- Promote a guest from backstage to the stage.
- Demote a guest from the stage to backstage.
- Mute a guest remotely.
- Adjust how loud each guest is in the broadcast mix.
- Change a guest’s on-air name and headline.
- Remove or block a guest.
Guests who are backstage cannot be seen or heard by viewers or other guests until you promote them to the stage.
Change your stage layout
You can switch between Cinema8’s eight layouts while you’re live:
- Solo
- Cropped
- Group
- Spotlight
- News
- Screen
- Picture-in-picture
- Cinema
Cinema8 can automatically select an appropriate layout when the stage changes. Once you manually choose a layout, Cinema8 will not override your selection automatically.
Share your screen or use another camera
You can start a screen share during your broadcast. When automatic layout switching is active, starting a screen share changes the stage to the Screen layout.
Screen sharing is available on all Live plans.
You can also add an extra camera on the Live Pro plan and above, such as a second camera angle.
Manage media and branding
You can control media and branding during your live stream including:
- Your logo
- Overlays
- Images
- Video clips
- Backgrounds
These elements can appear on air at the same time, with their placement, size, and opacity controlled separately.
Use scenes
Scenes let you save a snapshot of your Studio setup, including the layout, people on stage, banners, and overlays.
Apply a saved scene to restore that setup in one click. Saved scenes can also be used in a different event.
Manage your destinations
You can manage your broadcast destinations without ending your live stream.
Cinema8 lets you:
- Add a new destination while you’re live.
- Turn a destination off without removing its configuration.
- Check the status of each destination.
A destination added during a broadcast is connected to the running stream without requiring you to restart it.
Cinema8 shows each destination as Ready, Preparing, Reconnect, Error, or Off.
Communicate with your studio team
Use the private chat to communicate with guests and other members of the studio team during the broadcast.
Private chat is available on all Live plans and is marked Studio team only. Your audience cannot see these messages.
You can use private chat to coordinate the broadcast, cue a guest, or share information without interrupting the live programme.
End your live stream
When your broadcast is finished, select End stream to stop the live stream.
What happens next?
After your live stream ends, you can review its performance and manage any recording created from the event.
