How do I prepare speakers before going live?
Before starting your live stream, make sure each speaker has joined the Studio, checked their camera and microphone, and is ready to be brought onto the stage. Guests can join from their browser using their invitation link without creating a Cinema8 account or installing software.
Step 1: Invite your speakers
Invite speakers using the guest invitation link for your event. You can invite guests during event setup or later from the People panel in the Studio.
Guest invitation links remain valid for seven days.
Step 2: Ask speakers to complete the pre-flight check
When a speaker opens their invitation link, Cinema8 takes them through a pre-flight check before they enter the Studio.
They can:
- Preview their camera.
- Check their microphone.
- Enter their display name.
- Add a headline.
This gives speakers an opportunity to check their setup before joining the Studio.
Step 3: Keep speakers backstage until they are ready
When speakers enter the Studio, they remain backstage until you promote them to the stage.
People backstage cannot be seen or heard by the audience. They also cannot see or hear other backstage guests until they are promoted to the stage.
Step 4: Manage speakers from the People panel
Use the People panel to manage speakers before and during the live stream. You can:
- Mute a speaker remotely.
- Change their on-air name and headline.
- Adjust their volume.
- Promote them to the stage or move them backstage.
- Remove or block a guest.
Step 5: Bring speakers onto the stage
When a speaker is ready to appear in the broadcast, promote them from backstage to the stage.
The stage shows what viewers will see in the live broadcast, so check that the correct speakers, layout, and other content are in place before you select Go live.
What happens next?
For events where speakers need time to prepare together before the broadcast, you can use the Greenroom.
